Overview
Diploma in Excavation and Trenching at QLS Level 4
This course is endorsed under Quality Licence Scheme.
The Diploma in Excavation and Trenching at QLS Level 4 (USA Standards) is designed for individuals who want to learn the fundamentals of excavation and trenching guidelines. Excavation and trenching refers to the process of digging up and creating an excavation in the ground for various purposes. A trench created in this manner is usually narrow but deeper in depth. In civil engineering, trenches are mainly created to install underground infrastructure and utilities such as gas mains, water mains and telephone lines. In archaeology, trenches are dug up by archaeologists in order to search and excavate ancient ruins or sediment ruins. Trenching has also been often used for defensive purposes.
Excavation and trenching is an inherently dangerous procedure. It involves so many hazards that can be fatal at times. In-depth knowledge on trenching and excavation is a necessary requirement to embark on a successful career in engineering and construction.
The Diploma in Excavation and Trenching at QLS Level 4 is aimed at educating aspiring constructors and engineers on excavation and trenching. The course will teach learners excavation facts, personal protection systems and excavation and trenching guidelines. Learners will gain insight into excavation and trenching hazards and excavation and confined space hazards. The course will also cover irritant (corrosive) atmosphere and soil classification. Additionally, learn about the OSHA report and how to handle an OSHA Inspection. Individuals will also learn about ladder safety, confined space safety, confined space entry program, confined space entry permit and confined space duties and responsibilities.
